After completing his high school education followed by an apprenticeship in malting and brewing, Professor Jacob studied brewing and beverage technologies in Weihenstephan near Munich. Having been awarded a doctorate he fulfilled various roles at the Bavarian State Research Brewery in Weihenstephan.
Professor Jacob has chaired the Central European Brewing Technology Analysis Commission since 2009.
In 2011 became a member of the supervisory board of the Bavarian State Brewery in Weihenstephan.
As an internationally recognized expert in the field of brewing, Professor Jacob provides professional advice to the brewing and beverage industry worldwide and has initiated numerous research projects. At the Center of Life and Food Sciences Weihenstephan Professor Jacob holds lectures on international brewing methods and quality assurance in the beer making industry. In addition to this also supervises the theses of postgraduates and doctoral candidates.
